A collection of thoughts by the founders and friends of Saved By Radio, Calgary's most eclectic record label.

What can I tell ya...

Well, one of the most important things right now is that the bed tracks are done for Old Reliable's new album. Overdubs are occurring - Swifty said he did about six organ parts yesterday (that being Friday - always a good day for organs, as far as I've heard...).

There was also a game of full-contact frisbee happening outside Sundae Sound - thankfully, no playing fingers were mangled, and no passing rabbits were winged.

Hm. Let's see...Tim Hus's CD release party happens a week from today - Saturday May 1. It'll be at Merlot in Calgary, which is right around 14th street and 17th ave in the SW. Come down - Tim puts on one helluva show.

Falconhawk's going to be playing at the Big Secret Theatre at the Centre for the Performing Arts on Tuesday night (April 27). It's a gig sponsored by CBC Radio 3, and Young&Sexy and Dragon Fli Empire (man, I love "Mount Pleasant"! That's such an awesome track! And I'm not even that much of a hip-hop fan!) will also be on the bill. So head down for that.

And the hockey battles continue. It's actually good that Calgary and Montreal are no longer playing on the same night - my loyalties are much less divided now, especially in those overtime games. (Calgary-Montreal final? Wouldn't that be something...)

Zat's all fer now. I think I'm gonna head up to the used CD store to sell some stuff - although if anybody really wants the Culture Club's 20th anniversary DVD, put in yer bids now!

Argh

And yeah, we're a Calgary label, but y'know, some of our loyalties are divided...

Boy, didn't that overtime goal in the Habs-Bruins game suck?

Come on, Canadiens... (and yeah, Flames too...)

(oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name...)

Shows! Go To Shows!

Saved By Radio isn't just a label...it's a way of life.

So go and see shows with SBR bands.

Old Reliable plays Calgary's TA Vern's (11 Ave SW between 5th and 6th streets) on Friday, April 16. $5 at the door. There'll be lots of new stuff, because they're goin' into the studio (Sundae Sound, with Dave Alcock) to record their fourth album immediately after the show. (And I mean immediately - we're gonna lock them in there with a cooler of food and a cooler of beer as soon as they're done playin'...)

(Or not...)

Falconhawk's playing a couple shows this weekend as well - one as part of the Calgary Underground Film Festival on Thursday the 15th (that's at the new Venue on 10th Ave. S.W.), and one at the Den (on the UoC campus) on Saturday the 17th.

Go thou out and listen!
